Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Kopo was created in 2017 around a vision shared by four students from the woodworking & design fields: the sharing of common resources and the possibility to learn from each other’s knowledge and talents.
Beyond thinking, designing and creating custom projects, Kopo is an artistic playground for the individual as well as the collective whole. Kopo designs and creates custom-made projects for individuals and the commercial sector, creates furniture and objects made of wood and also designs large scale artistic projects.
MEET LAETITIA, MONIQUE, FRÉDÉRIC & AXEL
With a background in marketing as well as in the tourism industry, Laetitia cares about the human psyche. Gatherer and go-getter, she was the one who initiated the passion around the Kopo project in 2015, when all the members knew each other only just and through classes at the École d’ébénisterie d’art de Montréal (ÉÉAM).
Monique first studied visual arts and then history of art. She forged her talent in Montreal's scenic set factories and continues driving her artistic career. In 2015, she decided to pursue her research through woodworking.
First through studies in violin making in Quebec, it is in Montreal that Frédéric acquires his first experiences in woodworking. His pragmatic thinking and his work experiences quickly made him an asset for the organization of the workshop and manufacturing techniques.
After studying civil engineering and then two years of apprenticeship with the Companions of the Tour de France, Axel turned towards retail. He brings to Kopo an effective thought and a great sense of resourcefulness.
