A specialty from Reunion Island.
In Reunion Island, rougail is consumed with every meal. It is placed in the center of the table and serves as a condiment.
KIPIK sauce is a raw, artisanal and perfectly balanced product made from peppers and other fresh ingredients. Its rougail chili, marketed under the name of KIPIK sauce, is inspired by a family recipe made of fresh products fed by the sun and the smell of the Indian Ocean.
Kipik proposes a unique spicy sauce, which has nothing to do with all the other red or green liquid overcooked, and over spicy sauces found in grocery stores; and invites you to taste the true flavours of Reunion Island.
KIPIK accompanies all meats, fish, grilled meats and cooked meals. It marries wonderfully with cheese and gives an exotic and spicy touch to your sandwiches!
Thomas Ballion was introduced at an early age to this spicy sauce through Jean-Mo, the father of his two childhood friends. Originally from this island west of the Indian Ocean, Jean-Mo had continued to cook this chili rougail, once he had settled in Bordeaux, France. The spicy condiment, with its exotic perfumes, quickly conquered the taste buds of young Thomas.
“I grew up with this raw sauce made of fresh products. After leaving France, I brought the recipe across the Atlantic and introduced the sauce to my entourage who quickly adopted it.” With this recipe and its variants – Classik, Explosive Grenade, Sweet, Mango – Thomas suggests a unique spicy sauce.
