In 2014, Aja was working as an urban agriculture researcher and led sustainable rooftop beekeeping projects for culinary honey. Through these projects she learned all about beekeeping, the honey industry and why it is so important to support local farmers and entrepreneurs. Doing this opened her eyes to how resilient bees are, as well as all the terrible things happening in the modern honey industry - honey was being adulterated, beekeepers were struggling to maintain work due to imported honey products and of course that bee populations are drastically declining. There was a huge gap in the market for a beautiful brand that showcased the unique qualities of REAL raw honey while also being bee-friendly and 100% in support of Canadian beekeepers – so Drizzle was born!
Drizzle is now sold across Canada, has a small team of dedicated busy bees helping grow the vision and has accepted an investment from Dragons' Den Investor Arlene Dickinson.
When someone purchases Drizzle, they are helping create a shift in the food industry by telling retailers they want to consume environmentally and socially responsible products, while also creating jobs for lots of busy bees (both human and insect!).
In Aja's work as an environmental scientist leading beekeeping projects for both culinary and agricultural research, she came to appreciate the increasingly urgent need to support sustainable beekeeping. Aja also wanted to celebrate the complex and precious gift that honey bees create.
Drizzle was born out of a desire to showcase the unique qualities of raw, unadulterated honey, while supporting the health of local bee populations and empowering sustainable production in beekeeping.
Drizzle Honey brings sophistication, exceptional taste, and seasonal beauty to your table. The honey is raw, and rich with healthy pollen, enzymes, and minerals.
So go ahead - dig in! Drizzle honey is an everyday luxury you can feel great about.
